Find an Answer, Ask a Question
How to Find an Answer BEFORE you research our database of Qs and As, you should first try to find the information you want by typing a keyword into the Search tool on CBP.gov. Smartlinks will assist in directing you to the ideal content for your keyword.
(
CBP.gov Search ) We have over 500 Q&As about CBP policies and procedures in our database.
(
Find an Answer, Ask a Question ) You can search the database by either- word search using the search bar
- topic, (i.e. travel requirements, importing procedures, moving to the U.S.) or
- your role in the CBP process, (i.e. importer, traveler, carrier, etc.)
We STRONGLY suggest you use only one of the three tools to find answers. If you use all three, you will significantly restrict the number of answers offered for your review. If you do not find an answer to your question, you can submit your question and we will be glad to help you. How to Ask a Question Once you have opened at least one Q&A an "Ask a Question" tab appears at the top of the window next to the Answers tab. Click on this tab to submit a question to a Customer Service Representative. - Type in your email address and question.
- Pick a topic, subtopic, customer group and subgroup.
- Click the Submit Question button. Important note: your question has not been submitted yet, please continue.
- Next, click the "Create an Account" button (if you haven't already done so).
- On the next screen, click the Finish Submitting Question button.
When your question is successfully submitted you will get a reference number. The Customer Service Center is experiencing high volume and there may be a lengthy delay in responding to your question.
